Head of Corporate Development at duisport – Duisburg Hafen AG
Alexander Garbar is the Head of Corporate Development, Digitalization and Strategy, Duisburger HafenAG in Duisburg, Germany, responsible for the areas of for Data & Analytics, hydrogen, digitalization, research & funding projects, and the Project Management Office , as well as the development of the port into the central hydrogen hub in NRW and the digitalization and automation of the entire port infrastructure. He was also responsible for the development of the environmental and sustainability strategy and definition of the Port of Duisburg’s hydrogen roadmap in addition to investigating the suitability of greenfuels in port operations and various possibilities for decentralized energy generation in the port area.
With a Master of Science in Business Administration at Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany and a Master of Business Administration at the University of California, Davis, USA. Alexander was also Managing Director, startport GmbH in Duisburg, Germany from 2021 to 2023, responsible for the strategic realignment of the company with the aim of ensuring sustainable and long-term financial stability while maintaining independence from the parent company.
