Roy Avrahami

Chief Innovation Officer & Corporate Investment Arm, Ashdod Port, Israel

As a visionary, Roy Avrahami aims to bridge the gap between startups and ports around the world, as he leads an innovation transformation in the global maritime industry, based on a unique economic model as well as collaborative efforts.

Roy Avrahami is Ashdod Ports’ Chief Innovation Officer and managing its Corporate Investment Arm (CVC) and a board member for several startups. Roy established the ports’ global innovation and investment division in order to create a global maritime network that connects technological solutions with ports.

Ashdod port runs several programs, all dedicated to enhancing the digitalization of the maritime industry as a whole:
* The Blue Ocean accelerator program, in partnership with 500 Global VC
* The port serves as an open innovation and beta-site for startups
* Training the ports employees to become internal innovation agents
* Collaborations with strategic global ports that serve as “embassies” that promote and import Israeli startups.

Roy joined Ashdod port in 2017 as Chief of Staff of the Board of Directors and Commercial and Strategic Counsel. Prior to that, Roy filled the chief of staff and senior strategic advisory roles in the Israeli government, working with the Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water, and with the Minister of Interior.

Roy is a certified Lawyer and Mediator and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in the Faculty of Law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a Master of Commerce in Commercial Law at Tel Aviv University and University of California, Berkeley, and an EMBA at the Recanati School of Business Administration.
